Knowing Your Customers Helps Them When It Comes Time to Change

Knowing your customers and their business is critical to the success of your business.  And more importantly, theirs.

“I learned a long time ago that the more I knew about how a customer’s business, the more I could help come up with the right copier solution,” Greg Farmer said.  “An oil and gas leasing company has different printing needs than a law firm than does a car dealership.”

Greg is the founder and co-owner of Farmer Business Systems, the leading dealer for Xerox products and services in North Texas.

“When we know the size of your office and the kind of work you are putting through it, we can design the best combination of printers, copiers and network solutions,” Greg continued. “New business is good, but being able to solve a problem for an existing customer is really satisfying.”

What Greg has done successfully is “extract the machine” from the equation.  That is, not focusing on the equipment, but rather looking at the throughput of the office.

“Once you take the machine out of the initial discussion, it becomes easier,” Greg said. “Then the object becomes the throughput of paper and information. From that information we can choose and array the right number and type of machines, the network configuration and software and know what supplies to order and when (and how often).”

And the most important part of the process is the delivery and set up: “We hand deliver each machine and our team sets them up,” Greg said. “We don’t leave until everything is working.”
