Farm Frites is building a new french fries factory in Saudi Arabia together with partner Americana Foods. The official construction kick-off took place earlier this week and the completion is scheduled for early 2026. The factory will start with a capacity of 75,000 tons of frozen fries and special potato products annually.
The construction of the factory in the capital Riyadh involves an investment of $100 million. For its operation, Farm Frites and Americana Foods have established a second joint venture, a joint company. According to the two companies, the new factory, built on a 100,000 square meter site, contributes to the goal of becoming the largest producer of frozen fries products in the Middle East and North Africa, the so-called MENA region.
The two companies have been collaborating in the fries production in Egypt for over thirty years through Farm Frites Egypt. Americana Foods, headquartered in the United Arab Emirates, with an annual turnover of nearly $2.5 billion, is one of the largest food conglomerates in the Middle East. The conglomerate operates more than twenty restaurant chains in various countries.
Fifth largest market
Farm Frites, headquartered in Oudenhoorn, stated in a release that 'the new facility will support the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by stimulating local production, strengthening food security, and improving the entire value chain'. From agriculture and production to distribution and serving customers. "We are pleased to collaborate again with Americana. Of the one hundred countries where Farm Frites operates, Saudi Arabia is the fifth largest market globally. This strengthens our connection to the MENA region and contributes to the growth and economic diversification of Saudi Arabia," explained Piet de Bruijne, CEO of Farm Frites.
