Pig price navigates through flat landscape

Friday 8:00 pm - Wouter Baan

It is not very exciting times on the European pig market. As we wrote last week, the prices are set in concrete and there is little indication that they will change quickly.

There are enough pigs to fill the slaughter lines as needed. And the meat sales on the European market are not bad, but the demand is not wild either. That is simply the situation in a few words. This has been the case since the end of the summer holidays and the current flat picture could continue until mid-November. By the way, everyone seems reasonably satisfied with the current price level, in the sense that farming can be profitable.

Rising slaughter figures
Eye-catching market data are the Dutch slaughter figures. With 279,674 pigs slaughtered last week, it was the highest number of pigs slaughtered since the beginning of the summer. The higher numbers are manageable and well below the levels of previous years.

DCA Market Price
The DCA Market Price remains unchanged at €1.96 per kilogram. The price of live pigs also remains stable at €1.54 per kilogram.
