Vion reports that the company will transfer its slaughtering activities of the Belgian cattle slaughterhouse in Zottegem to the Belgian Cadus, the shareholder of Euro Meat Group, by 2025.
Vion describes the location on their website as one of the most modern cattle slaughterhouses in Europe. The facilities at the location date back to 2013, and in 2021 Vion took over the location. 2,500 cattle are slaughtered at the location weekly.
Earlier this year, the company announced its complete withdrawal from the German market. In September, the company reached a deal on the sale of the cattle activities with Tönnies. Vion emphasizes that it will remain "actively and in the long term on the Belgian market."
