Chinese ultimatum new move in trade conflict

June 25, 2024 - By our team of market reporters

China has set an ultimatum to the European Union regarding import duties for electric cars. According to the country, these must be off the table by July 4. As a countermeasure, the country threatens to ban European pork.

The European Union accuses China of dumping cars on the European market. China is not pleased with this and calls it blatant protectionism. In various state media, the country announced that it has launched an investigation into these dumpings.

A potential trade war is particularly risky for the sales of by-products. Unlike the sales of frozen meat, the sales of products such as trotters, snouts, and organs are constant. Moreover, it is difficult to find an alternative market for these products.
