Polish milk production has a flying start this year

June 11, 2024 - Alex Jurvillier

The Polish milk production has started much stronger in 2024 than in previous years. The total milk production over the first four months of this year was higher at 4.6 million tons than in the past three years.

The milk production in the first four months of 2021 was 4.2 million tons, which was significantly lower. In 2022, the milk supply in the same period was 4.3 million tons. In 2023, the milk supply in that period further increased to 4.4 million tons. This year, it has further increased to 4.6 million tons in the first four months of the year.

The milk supply for April was 1.17 million tons, whereas last year in the same month it was 1.11 million tons. The improved milk supply in April is likely due to better weather conditions, according to the German market and price bureau ZMB.

From January to April 2024, the production of drinking milk increased by 1%. The cheese production has even increased by 6.1%. Unlike the butter production, which decreased by 3.5%, writes ZMB.
