The DCA BestPigletPrice takes a small step up this week. Despite the division in the market, the quotation is once again rising.
As is often the case, not all traders are on the same page regarding the mutation of the Dutch piglet price. Some traders believe that an increase does not fit the market situation, where supply and demand are fairly balanced. However, a group of traders also strongly advocate for an increase.
The reason for this is the high premiums. The only remedy against further uncontrolled growth is a firm piglet price, according to the thinking of these contributors. Therefore, they opt for a (mild) increase. The figures show a limited increase, just like in the past weeks. The DCA BestPigletPrice rises by €0.50 to €49.50 per pig. The German VEZG piglet quotation remains at €65 per pig, but it had not fallen as far in the past months.
Nevertheless, the room for increase in the Dutch piglet price in the coming weeks seems limited, also judging by the stable pig market. However, the situation is improving there, as evidenced by the rising meat prices. Yet, the pig prices are not rising yet. For example, Vion keeps the weekly quotation at €1.86 per kilogram, and presumably, the other slaughterhouses will follow this trend later this week.
